Dr. Philip von der Meden is a specialist lawyer for criminal law. He is active in the defense of individuals and companies and advises in all areas of white collar and tax criminal law.

Dr. Philip von der Meden studied law at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg with a period abroad in Cambridge (Gonville & Caius College). He received his doctorate from Bucerius Law School, funded by the German National Academic Foundation. He has practiced criminal law since the beginning of his career.

He is particularly active in the area of tax criminal law (e.g., “cum/ex”, VAT carousels, proceedings with international connections). Nevertheless, he also provides legal advice in all other areas of white-collar criminal law and in selected cases of general criminal law. Dr. Philip von der Meden conducts and supports internal investigations as well. In addition to companies and managers, his clients also include tax consultants and lawyers.

When providing advice, he always remembers to take his clients’ non-legal interests into account. Building trusting and reliable relationships with his clients is an essential aspect of his work.

Dr. Philip von der Meden has many years of experience as a lecturer in criminal law at various universities. Since 2019, he has held lectureships in criminal procedure law and white collar criminal law at the Ruhr University Bochum. He has also been an honorary judge at the Hanseatic Bar Court in Hamburg since 2022. Dr. Philip von der Meden has received numerous awards for his work (e.g. from WirtschaftsWoche, Handelsblatt and others). In 2022, he was honored by Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers as Lawyer of the Year for Tax Criminal Law.

In his free time, you can find him on the tennis court, on the yoga mat or on the couch with a good book.
