Max Schwerdtfeger studied law at the University of Passau, the University of Western Australia (Perth) and the Bucerius Law School (Dr. jur.). Before founding the law firm EVEN, Max Schwerdtfeger worked for over eight years as a lawyer for renowned nationwide boutiques and for the major international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in white collar and tax criminal law.

He is also experienced in advising on all issues concerning parliamentary committees of enquiry of the German Bundestag and the state parliaments. In particular, he represents and advises witnesses, companies, authorities and parliamentary groups. He is a co-editor of the Nomos Commentary on the Parliamentary Investigation Committee Act (PUAG), where he comments on the provisions on the protection of secrets and the disclosure of documents.

Max Schwerdtfeger is a staunch partner and always at his clients’ side in crisis situations. As a father of three, he makes use of his problem-solving skills in his private life as well as in the bouldering hall.

He is a lecturer in white collar criminal law and the law of parliamentary inquiry committees at the University of Hamburg.
